New Year's Resolutions Check In
Friday, January 9th, 2026 05:16 pmWe made it through the first week of January. This is enough to get an early glimpse of progress with New Year's resolutions. It's also malleable enough to make changes. Our busy season here at
goals_on_dw is December-January, with weekly check-in posts for January, then monthly after that.
How are your resolutions going?
Are you struggling with year-long goals? Consider adding some one-day resolutions to boost your sense of accomplishment. You can also break yearly goals into smaller subgoals, like weekly or monthly ones. Alternatively, try making a set of 4-8 seasonal resolutions, where each goal will only be active for about three months.
Do you feel more crushed by obligations than inspired by opportunities? You might benefit from exploring alternatives to conventional resolutions. You could simplify things, or add some fun New Year's resolutions and self-care goals so you don't burn out.
Are you bored with the same old resolutions? Try something unique! Sometimes it's fun to tackle a challenge that few if any other people will be doing.
How are you doing with tracking your progress? If you need a visual representation, check out these bullet journal pages.
Are you still going strong? Reward yourself!

Date: Saturday, January 10th, 2026 10:15 pm (UTC)I figured out I am going to tally the weekly habits at the end of the month instead of trying to cram a bunch of monthly habit trackers in there. This works much better and smoother for me. And yes, I know. I'm an artist who has a terribly boring and simple bullet journal. XD Oh well. This is more for me to keep track of things, I do all the pretty sketching in my sketchbooks. I might try and pretty it up but I usually save that for my regular journal.
Uh. Well. I am steadily making progress of my two major goals from last year: Move back home to Colorado and sell my home. I have a job interview this week and I have a hunch I'm going to get the job. Other than that, my yearly goals are still the same with building these small habits and pursuing my dream of selling my art as a side hustle.
Go you!

>> And figuring out how to make my bullet journal work for me. <<
More power to you. I can't manage that style at all, even with a single page tracker.

Logical.

I have noticed that people tend to have a main creative outlet, or a few. So folks who have a different place to do art may not bother with a fancy bullet journal, but people who don't are more likely to use that as their creative space.

Progress is good!

That's a good goal too, especially if it's the kind where you can draw on local attractions or wildlife.

Going Out and Doing Things: The goal is once a month. This month was bowling with friends.
Remembering Other Hobbies Exist: I began a color coded hobby log in my life admin notebook, and it's working great. Just a way to remind myself that I can do something other than play video games.
