Community Profile

This community supports goals and goal setting. New Year resolutions can be for any "new year" holiday in any calendar or culture. People can also make or modify goals at other times or other lengths. January 1 just happens to be a popular example.

Here you will find resources about making and keeping resolutions, pros and cons of setting them, ideas for resolutions, alternatives if traditional resolutions aren't your style, goal setting systems, and more. Check-in posts will be weekly in January, likely monthly in the rest of the year but may include additional posts for other "new year" dates.

All resolutions, goals or related ideals are valid. Use whatever goal-setting methods or systems work for you. Different people may prefer different approaches, and that's fine; diversity is good and may inspire others. Please respect each other's perspectives and choices. Be kind to yourself too; goals are opportunities, not obligations, and beating yourself up will not improve either your mood or your performance.

allbingo -- a creative bingo community to encourage writing, art, etc. Good for creative goals, but the Bingo Card Generator also has "Little actions for self-care" and "Little housekeeping tasks" if you want a more practical bingo.

birdfeeding -- a community about watching birds and other wildlife, touching on other nature topics. Good for goals relating to birds, nature, photography, walking outside, or if you need topics for "post a day" goals then just write what birds you've seen and call it done.

journalsandplanners -- your one-stop-shop for talking about art journals, writing journals, bullet journals, planners, and the materials to make them such as stickers and printables. There's a solid branch of calligraphers and fountain pen fans too, who like to talk about pens, inks, papers, etc. People often share pictures of their work. Look here if you have "use X journal on Y schedule or amount" type goals and/or you enjoy the physicality of hardcopy records in resolutions or other goals.

1) Please remember that you are dealing with real live people on this blog, not cyber-ghosts. Speak the truth gently if possible, firmly if necessary. Treat other folks with respect, and otherwise conduct yourself as a mature, responsible, civilized person.
